The Fu-Mech flanged concentric reducer (model FU-CON) is fabricated to order to complete tank, pump-room and civil pipework packages. This guide covers where it is used, the critical point in selecting and installing it, and how to order.
At a glance
- Both ends on one centreline.
- Suited to vertical runs and discharge lines.
- Flanges drilled to ANSI B16.5 or PN16 to order.
- Made to the two sizes required.
What is it?
A flanged reducer whose two ends share the same centreline, joining a larger pipe to a smaller one while keeping both on one axis.
Where it is used
- Vertical runs.
- Pump discharge connections.
- Size changes where air pockets are not a concern.
Concentric or eccentric?
On a horizontal pump suction an eccentric reducer is normally used, flat side up, so no air collects. The concentric reducer suits vertical runs and discharge lines.
Caution
Check sizes, flange standard and lengths against the approved piping drawing before fabrication; made-to-order items are built to the data you send.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use it on a pump suction?
On a horizontal suction an eccentric reducer, flat side up, is normally preferred. The approved designer’s details govern.
Which flange standards are available?
Flanges are drilled to ASME B16.5 Class 150 or EN 1092-1 PN16, to match the valves and equipment on your project.
Do you make non-standard items?
Yes. We fabricate non-standard sizes, lengths and end connections to the project drawing. Send the drawing and we send a quotation.
What should I send for a quotation?
Model code FU-CON, Large × small size (DN), Flange standard: ANSI B16.5 or PN16, Quantity, and the drawing if the item is non-standard.
