The Fu-Mech tank feeding pipe (model FU-TFP) is a dedicated, capped inlet for filling a water tank. It is set in the roof slab on a square base plate and closed with a chained cap so the cap is never lost. This guide explains its role, how it relates to vent pipes, and how to install and order it.

At a glance

  • A dedicated filling point, for example for filling from a water tanker.
  • Chained cap that always stays with the pipe.
  • Square base plate for installation within the roof slab.
  • Welded one-piece construction.

What does a feeding pipe do?

Many tanks need a filling point separate from the main supply, such as filling from a water tanker or temporary filling. The feeding pipe provides that point cleanly, and stays closed with its cap the rest of the time, keeping dust and debris out of the stored water.

Because incoming water pushes air out of the tank, the feeding pipe is installed together with suitably sized vent pipes.

Venting capacity

Venting must be enough for the tank’s highest filling rate and highest draw-off rate, including fire-pump demand. The number and size of vents are set by the project’s approved designer from the tank capacity and flow rates.

Caution

If the project specification calls for an insect or bird screen on the vent outlet, or a set outlet height above the roof, state it clearly with your order.

Installing in the roof slab

  1. Mark vent positions on the roof drawing before the pour.
  2. Set the square base plate in the roof slab at the right level and tie it to the reinforcement.
  3. Allow for waterproofing layers and the final roof finish when setting the outlet height.
  4. Seal the pipe-to-roof junction into the waterproofing. Keep the cap closed except when filling.

Common mistakes

  • Venting smaller than the filling or draw-off rate.
  • An outlet too close to the roof surface, reached by ponding rainwater.
  • Forgetting the slab thickness and waterproofing when ordering.
  • Vent outlets left blocked by dust or debris with no maintenance.

How to order

Use the “Build your order” section on this page: add every model, size and quantity, then send the whole order by email or WhatsApp. It reaches us as a tidy PDF request sheet and we contact you with the quotation.

  3. Roof slab thickness
  4. Any special requirement in the specification (screen, outlet height)

Frequently asked questions

Does a feeding pipe replace a vent?

No. The feeding pipe is a filling inlet and stays capped; the vent must always stay open to let air out and in. The two are installed together.

How is it installed in the roof?

The square base plate is set in the concrete roof slab during the pour. Send us the slab thickness so the length below the plate suits it.

How is it made?

Welded one-piece construction by Fu-Mech; size and finish to order.

What should I send for a quotation?

Model code, size, quantity, roof slab thickness and any special requirement in the project specification.
